Congratulations to all the Sun Run participants!  We had a great day for a run (all 48,000 of us).  I'm so proud of all of you for commiting to the program and sticking with it.  I ran with a friend who has overcome a personal battle in the past year with breast cancer so it was an emotional day for us.  We also saw many signs, tattoos, and runners wearing blue and yellow in support of the City of Boston after the tragedy last week.

This week we're back to business... Come see me at my open house both Saturday and Sunday from 2-4.

I'm volunteering this weekend (Saturday) at aid station 1 for the Diez Vista Trail Run.  For those of you who aren't runners the Diez Vista is a 50K running race over our local mountains.  The run starts at Sasamat Lake, does a Loop of Buntzen Lake, up to Westwood Plateau and back to Sasamat.  Rain or shine - winner should be in between 4.5 and 5 hours.  Crazy - huh? Come watch the winners come in.

It's really a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.

Sunday I'll be back at work.  Come join me at 44 2418 Avon Place, Port Coquitlam.  Open house from 2-4pm.  Fantastic 2 bedroom & den townhome.  The home is immaculate,  Great complex (3 years young) located in Riverwood, close to shopping, rivers, schools and transportation.

I am thrilled to have received recognition from my office and colleagues for my Real Estate Business in 2012.

My highest honour, however, was in recently receiving the 2012 Pay it Forward Award from my RE/MAX results realty office.  This award is given to one person annually in recognition of their commitment to the community through volunteerism and charitable works during 2012.

I've been really lucky and  I think it's important for us to remember those folks who are struggling in their own lives.  I think most of my clients are aware that a portion of each sale is donated to BC Children's hospital.  The total donated in 2012  on my clients behalf was $2400.00.

On another front, I have several friends who have taught me incredible strength in the past few years by watching them go through their battles with Cancer.  For that reason, I am also a strong believer in the Terry Fox Legacy, the Cure for Cancer &  our annual office Garage Sale for the Cure.

My greatest joy this past year was helping 360 Cycle in their efforts to collect Bikes 4 Kids.  Again, I have to thank my clients for their help in coming forward with donations of their used bikes so that we could make a few kids really, really happy over the holidays. It was a great idea and I hope to be a part of it again this season.

On a personal note I've enjoyed the past 10 weeks helping with the River Springs Sun Run Clinic. I'm looking forward to the day (not too far away) when all our new runners will face the challenge of completing a 10k race for the very first time.

Thanks again everyone for all your support!

Come join me at my open house today 2-4pm.  This immaculate townhome is only 3 years young.  It is still under warranty.  Fantastic home, in a growing neighbourhood close to everything.  Check out my listing section of this website for photos and more info.

Week 2 of the Sun Run clinic is under way.  I'm loving watching the new runners take on the challenge of learning to run a 10K.  This week we ran intervals of 2 minutes on, and 2 minutes off.  Think it's easy?  Get out there and try it!  It's not too late to sign up.  We'd love to see you out there.

Wishing you all the best in 2013.  Hope its the best year EVER!

The real estate market is already starting to show signs of early spring activity.  I always suggest that if you are considering making a move in the "spring' that you actually list your home earlier.  Most people will wait until the flowers start popping up in late February, early March.  Effectively that means that there will be more homes for sale = more competition.  Home sellers often find that by putting their home on the market earlier than the masses it often allows for a quicker sale at a higher price.

Then, when you have a firm deal on your home it's time to go out looking for your dream home.  Now that everyone else has put their home on the market you are in a great position.  Your home has sold so you are a better buyer, and you have lots of selection to choose from when making your purchase.

On the fitness side of the new year I am going to be a leader in the River Springs area for the 2013 Vancouver Sun Run.  I'd love to see you out there!

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped out with the Bikes 4 Kids drive.  From my client base, the flyer that was sent out, and the appeal to local realtors we brought in 35 bikes.  From those, Niki & her crew were able to make most of them as good as new, and the rest were used for parts.  In the end, Niki received a list of 25 kids in the tri-cities that we were able to help out.  Everyone who helped came away from the experience feeling fantastic.

I had a phone call from a teacher wanting to know how kids were added to our list.  She had a student in her class that would really fit the bill.  His parents were out of the picture and he could really use a bike.  I got  her in touch with the folks at 360 Cycle and they did the rest.  He is now the proud owner of a new bike.  Go to Niki's blog and read how we made a difference... - she says it much better than I can.

Thanks again everyone!

Just wanted to give a big thank you to all who contributed in making this year's blanket drive a huge success.  Our office in Port Coquitlam was being used as a drop off point, and judging from the piles of clothing and other items we've hit the mark again this year.  Greatly appreciated!  Thanks everyone

p.s. keep those bikes coming.  I've had over 20 bikes dropped off at my office to date, and I know there have been more dropped at 360 cycle.  We're going to make quite a few children really happy this Christmas.  We'll continue collecting the bikes until December 15th. has teamed up with local charities to hand deliver the bikes to families who have requested one.

The annual REALTORS Care Blanket drive is taking place November 26th - December 3rd.  I'm attempting to contact as many of my past clients as possible.  If you have any gently used blankets, clothing, gloves please drop them off at my office or call me for a list of other drop off locations.  There are several drop off locations in the tri-cities.  If that doesn't work call me and I'll arrange someone to pick it up.

Bikes 4 Kids is off to a great start.  6 bikes last week, 12 so far this week and they are still coming in.  Any size - from a trike to a bike a teenager could ride is greatly appreciated.  My favourite moment was last week when the 6 year old daughter of one of my past clients donated two of her bikes for another little girl.  She shyly mentioned that she is going to ask Santa for a new one this year because her old bikes are too small.  Love it!!

And on the fitness side I've signed up for the Pacific Roadrunners First Half Marathon in February.  Hope to see many of you there.  Come join us in training.  We're up at Buntzen most Sunday mornings.

The market reports for our area are now available.  Check out the Reports section of my website for the latest information on how housing sales are in YOUR neighbourhood.  My reports cover Coquitlam, Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows and break down the sales statistics to each neighbourhood instead of an overall city / lower mainland viewpoint.

Oh, and I'm famous.  I was on the recent TSN broadcast of Ironman Canada in Penticton.  However, it was only a 5 second walk on part (running actually).  I'm holding out for a speaking part next time.  Did I just say next time?

Our local spin bike studio is working with local food banks and community youth organizers to redistribute used kids bikes.  Bring them into the studio.

If you know of anyone selling on Craiglist or in the local paper for less than $60 or so, ask them if the would be willing to donate the bikes to 360 cycle.  They MUST be in working order.  The folks at 360 Cycle will clean them up, oil the chains and make them beautiful.  They will then give them out at Christmas time to kids that might not have a working bike, or who cannot afford to buy one.  There are MANY kids who do not have a bike.  Most of us don't need the $40 - $60 we would otherwise get for the bike, so see if people will donate them.

They are ready to start collecting the bikes now.  At last count they had received 5.  Bring them into the studio and 360 will store them, make them shiny, and make some child in the Tri-cities very happy!

Location 1388 Dominion Avenue, Port Coquitlam  604-612-0075  Near Costco / Save On Foods / RE/MAX results realty.

Or call me, I'll come pick it up!

After completing Ironman Canada in August I've had some 'challenges' fitting a normal exercise routine into my life.  Real Estate can become all consuming.  This is my way of balancing the two.  I will occassionally blog about fitness, as well as the local real estate market.

I'm going to start this off by including a summary of my 2012 Ironman Canada experience.

Here goes:

IMC 2012

Well, as in the past, I guess I'll start with what worked.

1. It ended.

Okay, Seriously - Lessons learned.

1. Goals are meant to be tough, or everyone would achieve them.

2. Support from family & friends is what keeps you going when you'd rather quit.

3. The ambulance is for other people.

4. It's okay to be happy with my results.

5. Ignore those people who would judge your achievment.

6. Spend a bit of time enjoying what you've accomplished.

7. More people are cheering you on than you know.

8. I have rules for quitting.

9. Tell yourself whatever you need to tell yourself to keep going.  It may not make sense, or even be true, but if it propels you toward your goal - keep it up!

10. Negative thoughts said out loud give them power.

11. Keep going ... long after you can't.

More to come...
